Set in a run down apartment complex in urban South London, Attack the Block introduces us to a gang of would be Gangster/Anti-heros who find themselves to be the block's only hope against a hostile alien invasion.

Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, Attack the Block is packed tight with character, story, and action! Make no mistake, There's no hand holding or over exposition, if you loose sight for a minute, you just might let something important pass you by. You are dropped right into the momentum, which is a bit of a double edge sword. Yes, this movie is all business, no bullshit, fun, and thrilling... But, the front end of the movie is packed with introductions. We meet our 5 anti-heros, the damsel, a duo or drug lords, two sets of would be sidekicks, a cosmic threat, and "The Block" itself which because a character of it's own. It's a tad demanding, but pulled off nicely.

Such a tight movie with so many characters is a definite achievement. There's not an unlikable character among them. The stand outs being Pest and Moses... There are several great hero moments that give Marvel and to a lesser extent Transformers, a run for their money.

Director, Joe Cornish, literally pulled kids out of local South London schools to cast this, his first Feature Film. Which lends a huge level authenticity to the environment and culture of the movie

Low(ish) budget special effects are worked into the story, and character design in a great way

any Misfits fan will feel right at home...

I give you my guarantee, you'll be smiling, and totally amped at the end of this movie... and like me... praying for a sequel

I'm giving Attack the Block 5/5 STARS... with extra Meow Meow Beans

ALLOW IT.
